As the first cooperative scientific research institution between TsinghuaUniversity and Sichuan Province, Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, Tsinghua University (hereinafter refered to as SC-EIRI) was established inTianfu New Area, Sichuan Province in March 2016, with the commitment to build atalents gathering platform, sci-tech innovation center, and industrialdevelopment highland in the field of energy Internet.

In order to respond to the call of "energyrevolution" by President Xi Jinping, implement the 2+2 cooperationagreement on "climate smart/low-carbon city", and serve theinnovation-driven development strategy of Sichuan Province, TsinghuaUniversity, with the strong support of Sichuan Province, Chengdu City andTianfu New Area, relying on the Department of Electrical Engineering,established SC-EIRI.

Since establishment, SC-EIRI has been based in Chengdu, serving Sichuan andconnecting home & abroad. It has vigorously promoted interdisciplinaryintegration and actively conducted industry-university-research collaborativeinnovation in frontier technologies and key fields such as clean and low-carbonenergy, new power system, energy cross-integration and energy carbonneutrality, and has developed into a leading technical innovation R&Dinstitution in the field of energy Internet. It has made outstandingcontributions to the serving towards Southwest China by Tsinghua University andthe opening up of Tianfu New Area.

Facing the future, SC-EIRI will seize the strategic opportunities of Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, actively participate in the construction of the Western(Chengdu) Science City and Tianfu Laboratory, enhance Chengdu to build a parkcity demonstration area with the implementation of new development philosophy, and make greater contributions in building a new power system with new energyas the main source, promoting energy clean development, and serving the fullrealizing of carbon peaking &carbon neutrality.
