On September 23, 2024, "Xinglong Lake Theme Salon - Power Market Innovative Development of New Power system and Consultant Appointment Ceremony of Academician Shmuel S. Oren" was held at SC-EIRI. During the event, nearly 70 relevant experts and scholars from government departments, energy and power enterprises, research institutes, universities and other institutions attended the offline conference, to jointly seek the market innovative development of new power system, and witness the consultant appointment ceremony of Academician Shmuel S. Oren. Moreover, nearly 2,000 people watched the event online.

Appointment Ceremony

In the keynote report part, Academician Shmuel S. Oren gave a keynote report entitled "Stable, Fair and Uniform Price Distribution of Community Aggregate Income in Retail Power Market", specifying the adoption of linear cooperative game model, proposing a mechanism for distributing collective savings in production and consumption community, and verifying that within the core of consistent price, stable reduction is something that definitely exist and can be effectively found.

Dr. Gao Hongjun from the College of Electrical Engineering of Sichuan University, Dr. Li Yaowang from the Low Carbon City Energy System Institute of SC-EIRI, and Dr. CAI Yuanji from the Power Market and Carbon Market Institute of SC-EIRI successively made keynote reports on the complex distribution networks in super-large cities, calculation and application of carbon emission factors in power utilization, and coupling trading of electrical carbon. Four speakers shared the latest research achievements and unique insights in their respective fields, presenting a high-end, cutting-edge, wonderful and professional academic feast and providing valuable guidance and inspiration for all guests.

Introduction of appointed expert: Dr. Shmuel S. Oren, Professor of the Graduate School in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at the University of California at Berkeley, and the co-founder and the Berkeley site director of PSerc - a multi-university power systems research center sponsored by the National Science Foundation and industry members. He has also been a member of the California ISO Market Surveillance Committee, and provides consulting services to private and public organizations in the US and abroad. He holds PhD Degree in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University. He was awarded the INFORMS Hotelling Medal for his outstanding achievements in the fields of energy, natural resources and environment, and the IEEE Outstanding Power Systems Educator Award. Moreover, he is a Life Fellow of National Academy of Engineering and the IEEE, and a Fellow of INFORMS.
